Comparison

Tenably AI vs Hootsuite

Hootsuite is a social media management platform built for marketing teams, and it is priced per seat. Tenably AI makes the content, answers the reviews, and runs email and SMS on one small business plan.

Hootsuite prices and plan limits verified 26 August 2026.

Choose Tenably AI if

You are the owner, marketing happens at 10pm or not at all, and the bottleneck is not scheduling: it is that nothing got made. Tenably writes the posts, builds the video, designs the flyer, drafts every review reply, and sends the email and the text, from $24 a month.

Choose Hootsuite if

You have two or more marketers, you need enterprise social listening across Reddit, forums and news, you need approval routing and single sign-on, and the budget is a line item somebody else signs off on. Hootsuite is built for that team and Tenably is not.

The short answer

Both tools put your social posts on a calendar. That is where the similarity stops.

Hootsuite is a social media management platform built for marketing teams. It is very good at that job and it prices like it: $99 per user per month on the Standard plan, billed annually, as of August 2026 (hootsuite.com/plans).

Tenably AI is an AI marketing platform for small businesses. It writes the posts, generates the video, designs the flyer, schedules everything, drafts a reply to every Google review, sends the email and the text message, and finds you local leads. That is everything in the platform, on one bill, from $24 a month.

  • Pick Hootsuite if: you have a team of two or more marketers, you need enterprise social listening, you need approval routing and SSO, and the budget is a line item somebody else signs off on.
  • Pick Tenably AI if: you are one person or a small crew, nobody is making the content, and you would rather have the posts, videos, flyers, review replies, emails and texts produced for you than have a nicer place to schedule the ones you never got around to writing.

If you have a marketing team and you need to listen to what the internet says about your brand, keep reading, but you will probably want Hootsuite. If you are the owner and marketing is the thing you do after closing, this page is for you. For the wider field, there is a fuller breakdown of the AI marketing tool landscape.

What Hootsuite costs in 2026

As of August 2026, Hootsuite publishes four tiers (hootsuite.com/plans).

Hootsuite plans, annual billing, August 2026
Hootsuite planPrice, annual billingSocial accounts
Standard$99 per user / month10
Professional$199 per user / monthUnlimited
Advanced$399 per user / monthUnlimited
EnterpriseCustom, contact salesUnlimited

A 14-day trial is offered with no credit card required (hootsuite.com/plans).

Note that the old lineup is gone. If you are reading a comparison written before 2026 that mentions a "Team" plan at $249 for three users, it is out of date. Hootsuite now sells per seat across the board (costbench.com).

Those published numbers are annual-billing rates. Month to month costs more, and Hootsuite does not print the monthly figure on its pricing page: you see it at checkout (napoleoncat.com). Third-party trackers report month-to-month rates of $149, $299 and $499 for Standard, Professional and Advanced (costbench.com). Treat those as reported, not published.

The per-seat problem

Per seat means what it says. Each additional person on your team costs the full plan price again, so three people on Standard is $297 a month (napoleoncat.com). For an agency or a marketing department that is normal software pricing. For a restaurant owner who wants the general manager to be able to post too, it is a second subscription.

What people complain about

Being fair here matters, so read this as a pattern in public reviews rather than a verdict.

Hootsuite holds a TrustScore of 1.3 out of 5 across 554 reviews on Trustpilot, with 69 percent of them one star (trustpilot.com). The recurring themes in those reviews are billing and refunds, support that routes through an AI chatbot, and platform bugs.

The contract terms are worth reading before you sign. Cancelling a paid plan does not entitle you to a refund, and you keep paying for the remainder of the term you committed to. Plans auto-renew by default, and Enterprise runs a one-year initial term that renews automatically unless you give written notice at least 60 days before it ends (napoleoncat.com).

Hootsuite's own pricing FAQ states you will not be charged automatically when the 14-day trial ends (hootsuite.com/pricing). Public reviews describe a different experience for some customers, so keep your own record of what you agreed to.

For contrast

Tenably plans are month to month or annual, you can cancel anytime from account settings, and you are not billed for the next period. Competitor pricing on this page was verified August 2026.

What Hootsuite is genuinely better at

This is a competitor page, so treat the following as the honest part. There are things Hootsuite does that Tenably does not do, and if you need them, buy Hootsuite.

Social listening

This is Hootsuite's real advantage and it is not close. Hootsuite acquired Talkwalker, an enterprise listening platform, and rebuilt its listening product on it (socialmediatoday.com). Hootsuite Listening covers X, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, Mastodon, Truth Social and more (blog.hootsuite.com).

Its review management product tracks reviews from over 300 sites including Google, Amazon, Yelp, Facebook, Tripadvisor, OpenTable, Trustpilot, Glassdoor, the App Store and Google Play (hootsuite.com/platform/review-management).

Be aware where the good stuff sits. Basic listening is available on the paid plans, but the deep Talkwalker-powered analysis, longer data retention and broad source coverage are on the custom-priced Enterprise tier (octolens.com).

Tenably has nothing comparable. Tenably tracks your Google reviews and your competitors' ratings on your street. It does not scan Reddit for mentions of your brand.

Team workflows and approvals

Hootsuite's Advanced plan adds content review and approval with your team, auto-routing of messages to the right team member, and measurement of team performance and efficiency (hootsuite.com/plans). If you have a social care team where a customer complaint needs to reach the right person within minutes, that routing is a real product and Tenably does not have it.

Enterprise integrations and compliance

Enterprise adds single sign-on and custom compliance solutions (hootsuite.com/plans). Hootsuite also carries an app directory of integrations into CRM and project management tools (hootsuite.com/platform). If your IT department has a checklist, Hootsuite passes it and Tenably is not built for that conversation.

Network breadth and reporting depth

Hootsuite supports Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Pinterest and YouTube, and its Cross Network Posts widget compares post-level metrics across Facebook, Instagram, X, Threads, Pinterest, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube in one sortable table (blog.hootsuite.com). Professional adds custom performance reports and social trend forecasting up to 90 days ahead (hootsuite.com/plans).

Tenably publishes to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn. If X, Pinterest or Threads are load-bearing for your business, that is a real gap.

Where Tenably AI is different

It makes the content, not just the calendar

A scheduler is a container. It waits for you to fill it. That is the part small business owners never get to, and it is why so many Hootsuite accounts go quiet after month two.

Hootsuite has AI. Its Standard plan advertises generating posts and images with AI (hootsuite.com/plans), and its AI layer drafts and optimizes content in your brand voice, suggests hashtags and posting times, and summarizes conversations (blog.hootsuite.com). That is caption help.

Tenably starts a step earlier and finishes a step later. Tap a date range and the content calendar fills itself with posts written for your business, your food, your services, your specials. The AI Video Studio turns an idea or a few photos into a finished short with script, scenes, voiceover, captions and music, formatted vertical for TikTok, Reels and Shorts or landscape for YouTube, then edits in your browser. The AI Flyer Maker designs print-ready flyers and branded social images from your own photos, logo and colors. Hootsuite's platform page makes no mention of AI video generation, print or flyer design (hootsuite.com/platform).

You still approve everything. Nothing publishes without you.

Reviews are a first-class product, not an inbox stream

Hootsuite genuinely does review management, and it is broader than Tenably on coverage. What it is not is a collection engine.

Tenably asks. It shares a review link or QR code, or texts one ask per happy customer, never twice in 90 days. Every new Google review comes back with a reply already drafted in your voice, grateful for the five stars and careful with the three. A low-star review fires an instant SMS alert to your phone so you can fix it while it still matters. Review Trends shows you what customers keep saying. Competitor Intelligence shows how your rating and momentum compare to the businesses your customers also consider.

The difference in one line: Hootsuite helps you watch your reputation across 300 sites, and Tenably helps you build one on the site your local customers actually read. The mechanics are in how to get more Google reviews automatically.

Email, SMS, and leads live in the same place

This is where the stack consolidation happens. Hootsuite's platform page does not mention email marketing, SMS marketing or lead generation anywhere (hootsuite.com/platform). Those are separate subscriptions.

Tenably includes AI email campaigns and two-way SMS that write and design the email with your photos and branding, and text messages that sound like you. Put a keyword like JOIN on a window sticker and every customer who texts it joins your list with consent recorded and gets an instant reply. STOP, START and HELP are handled automatically. Lead Prospector scans your area for local businesses worth reaching, with contact details and an AI-drafted first message, and those leads flow straight into the same email and SMS tools.

You are not buying seats

Tenably prices by plan, not by person. Creator is $24 a month, Pro is $49.99, Business is $90, with 20 percent off annual billing. What scales is brands and profiles: 1 on Creator, 3 on Pro, 10 on Business. Team members sign in against the same account, so adding your general manager does not add a bill.

That is the structural difference. On Hootsuite, a second person doubles the price. On Tenably, a second person costs nothing and a second location is what costs.

Price comparison, side by side

Now add the second person. Hootsuite Standard for two seats is $2,376 a year. Tenably Pro for two people is still $479.

Who should pick Hootsuite

Be honest with yourself about which of these is true.

  • You have a marketing team, not a marketing person.
  • Someone needs to approve content before it publishes, and that approval needs an audit trail.
  • You need to know what people are saying about your brand in places you do not own: Reddit, forums, news, competitor comment sections.
  • You have locations or product lines generating reviews across Yelp, Tripadvisor, Trustpilot, Glassdoor and app stores, not just Google.
  • Your IT department requires SSO.
  • X, Pinterest or Threads carry real revenue for you.

If three or more of those are true, Hootsuite is the right buy and this page is not going to talk you out of it. If you are still weighing the field, compare the other tools before you commit.

Who should pick Tenably AI

  • You are the owner, and marketing happens at 10pm or not at all.
  • The bottleneck is not scheduling. It is that nothing got made.
  • Google reviews are how customers find and judge you.
  • You want video and flyers without hiring anyone or learning an editor.
  • You want the email list and the text list in the same place as the posts.
  • You would rather have one bill than five.

Tenably replaces the stack rather than the calendar. That is the whole argument. If you want the week planned as well as produced, the AI marketing agent on the Business plan does that, and how a restaurant runs it shows the routine end to end.

Switching from Hootsuite

Three things to do before you cancel anything.

  1. Check your renewal date first. Hootsuite does not refund the remainder of a committed term, and Enterprise requires written notice at least 60 days before the term ends (napoleoncat.com). Find out what you are actually on before you move.
  2. Export what you need. Pull your published post history and any reporting you want to keep while you still have dashboard access.
  3. Run both for a week. Connect your pages to Tenably, approve one week on the content calendar, and turn on review collection. You will know inside seven days whether the content coming out is worth publishing. Then cancel at the renewal date, not before.

Hootsuite vs Tenably: common questions

Is Tenably AI cheaper than Hootsuite?

Yes, substantially. Hootsuite starts at $99 per user per month on annual billing as of August 2026, which is $1,188 a year for one seat. Tenably AI Pro is $479 a year and Creator is $229. Hootsuite charges per seat, so a second team member doubles the bill. Tenably team members share one account at no extra cost.

Does Hootsuite do review management?

Yes. Google Business Profile reviews appear in the Hootsuite Inbox, and its review management product tracks over 300 sites including Google, Yelp, Tripadvisor and Trustpilot. It is broader than Tenably on coverage. What it does not do is collect reviews for you. Tenably asks by link, QR code or text, drafts every reply, and texts you the moment a low-star review lands.

Can Hootsuite create videos?

Hootsuite's AI writes captions, generates images, suggests hashtags and recommends posting times. AI video generation does not appear on its platform, plans or AI product pages as of August 2026. The Tenably AI Video Studio produces a finished short from a text idea or your own photos, including script, scenes, voiceover, captions and music, with a browser editor for changes.

Does Hootsuite include email or SMS marketing?

No. Hootsuite's platform page covers social publishing, inbox, listening, analytics, employee advocacy and review management. Email marketing, SMS marketing and lead generation are not mentioned. Tenably includes AI email and SMS campaigns with two-way texting and keyword opt-in, plus Lead Prospector on the Business plan for finding local businesses to reach.

What is Hootsuite genuinely better at than Tenably AI?

Three things. Social listening, which runs on Talkwalker and covers Reddit, Mastodon, forums and news alongside social. Team workflows, including content approval, auto-routing messages to the right person, and team performance reporting on the Advanced plan. And enterprise requirements such as single sign-on, custom compliance and a large integrations directory. If you need any of those, buy Hootsuite.

How many social accounts does each tool support?

Hootsuite Standard includes 10 social accounts, and Professional, Advanced and Enterprise are unlimited, as of August 2026. Tenably Creator connects up to 2 social accounts and 1 brand, Pro auto-posts to every connected platform across 3 brands, and Business covers 10 brands. Full limits sit on the pricing page.

Can I cancel Tenably AI anytime?

Yes. You can cancel from your account settings at any time and you will not be billed for the next period. Check your Hootsuite terms before switching: cancelling a Hootsuite paid plan does not entitle you to a refund, you keep paying the remainder of the committed term, and Enterprise agreements require written notice 60 days before renewal.

Which platforms can Tenably AI post to?

Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn, from a single approval. Each post is sized and formatted for its platform and scheduled at the time your audience engages, as covered in the social media scheduler. Hootsuite supports a wider set including X, Pinterest and Threads, so if those matter to your business that is a point in its favor.
